CARE OF THE TEETH: Most people have a genéral idea) teeth, hurriedly two or ‘three times over the fronc of the teeth before going to bed, or getting up in he morning, and think they have cleaned their teeth. The importance of sound and ser- viceable teeth as an aid to health can- not be over estimated, for ‘upon their good condition depends the thorough mastication of the food, which is the first and not the least requisite of good digestion. Many a person doses him- self with all sorts of remedies to digestion when the real cause of his dyspepsia may be found in poor state of his teeth. The proper time to brush the teeth is after each meal and at bedtime. Be- fore this is done all particles of food should be removed from becween the teeth by means ofa tooth pick, or, bet- ter, dental floss. Then they should be brushed thoroughly with a brush of medium stiffness dipped in tepid water. Very hot and very cold are equally harmful, The brush should be used with an up and down movement, and not side- ‘ways only, and the backs of the teeth | should be brushed even more carefully 'than the fronts, for it is there that tar- tar tends te accumulate, Many think ‘that tartar is harmless but this is an erroneous belief; its accumulation is one of the principal causes of the loosening of the teeth, and its presence exposes one constantly tothe recur- rence of gumboils. The use of some good dentfice once a day, or two ar three times a week, keeps the teeth whiter and better ala looking, but it is not absolutely necessary when the tooth brush is used regularly after each meal, Rinsing the mouth after each brushing with some pleasantty-flavored antiseptic solution helps to avert decay of the teeth. JAP PRINCE IN DANGER. COREAN CCURT ACCUSES HIM OF THE MURDER OF THE EMPRESS. Oriental advices by the steamer Em- ing to the Kobe Chronicle, the Japanese prince, Li Chun Yo, was implicated by the confessions of Kwong and An, who were barbarously tortured and strang- led at Seoul for having been concern- ed ir. the assassination of the Korean Empress two years ago. The Emper- or of Korea demanded ofthe Japan- ese minister Li and his father be de- livered up for vengeance, but the Jap- anese minister declined to accede to this request. Then according to the Chronicle, Kim Young Ching, describ- ed as the official assassin of the Korean court, was sent to Tokio to kill Prince pameeseaeES LE Li Chung Yo and his father. The plot was frustrated, however, and the assas- | sin was arrested but escaped back to Korea. The Japanese princes are un- der the protection of special guards. BOER EMIGRATION.
