E> Ge eee A GENTLEMEN stopping at the Ottawa Hotel, Montreal, was the other night robbed of his watch and chain. He immediately opened telephonic communication with the Central Police Station, nearly a mile distant, and in three minutes and a half, detective Fahey, of the city detective force, was at the hotel. The stolen articles were recovered. Refresh- ing ! ' or Francis Beaan was arrested on Thursday night, and on Friday morning tried for com- mitting two assaults, one on Thomas Flagar and the other on Philip Colvill. Francis was under the influence of the ardent at the time he committed the rash acts and in court had no recollection of seing either of the prosecu- tors at the trial of the alleged assaults. He was sentence to four months’ imprisonment with hard labor. She was born in 1767, the year in in which the Jesuits were expelled from Spain, Genoa and Venice, and when Wallace and Cataret, Cook’s pr.'ecessros, made disgoveries in the South Beas, She was nearly 7 years old when the American Revolut'on began, and over 12 at the the time of the Lord Gordon no-popery riots. Her oldest living son is over 75 years. Some six days agoa couple of bodies were stolen from the Roman Catholic cemetery in Montreal, and the fact having been made known to Constable Bissonnette, the latter directed his assistant, Contant, to look after the bodies. Contant is an old hand at this business, and he was not long before he found traces of the ‘‘ ghouls,” which he followed un- til they led him to the dissecting room of Mc- Gill College, where he discovered the body of one of the subjects—that of afemale. It is said the seminary will prosecute the students.
