U.P.E.1I. NOMINATIONS! On Friday, October 2, 1992, U.P.E.I. Student union will be opening nominations for this fall’s General Elections. Get involved it is YOUR student government! The positions open for °92 - °93 are; STUDENT COUNCIL POSITIONS: Education Rep. (1) Business Rep. (1) Nursing Rep. (1) Freshman Student Rep. (1) Ombudsperson CLASS EXECUTIVE s (President, Vice-President, Treasurer /Secretary) Freshman Junior Sophomore Senior (Treasurer Te Secretary only) For those of you who are wondering what any of these people do, 1°11 give a short description of each. COUNCILLORS (includes Education, Business, Nursing, Freshman student representatives) : - Act as liaison between their particular constituency groups and the SU as a whole ; —- Represent the views and interests of sub-organizations, associations, societies, and clubs active within their constituency, with due regard to the concerns and interests of the SU as a whole - Sit on at least one SU committee during office tenure OMBUDSPERSON: The Ombudsperson shall: - Be elected for a term of one year - Endeavour to aid any member of the UPEISU who encounters difficulties with the University and/or the UPEISU - Inform students as to what recourse are available for prominent student concerns on campus and publicize these recourse through campus media - Be a non-voting member of council - Be entitled to attend any meeting of the UPEISU including meetings which are ordinarily considered confidential, such as Hiring and Selection, Executive, or special investigatory meetings - Be entitled access to the files, business reports and financial records of the UPEISU - Not assume any other position on campus during office tenure CLASS EXECUTIVES: SENIOR: Senior class executive shall be responsible for organizing activities and raising funds for Senior Week of their graduating year. a ALL OTHER CLASS EXECUTIVES: shall raise money to plan for their graduating year. Junior class also assists with Senior Week activities.
