Labor Gov'l Gives Advice To Housewives IONDOlN, Dec. 7 -tAP) —Thc Labor Government today began distributing 1.000.000 copies of a leaflet entitied"For Women Only"- an appeal for housewives to fight inflation. It tells them how. The leaflet admits frankly that eheapening of the pound from $4.- 03 to $2.80 (US) ls going to in- crease the cost of living. "Prices are going lip-not by a lot, certainly, but encugh to make housekeeping s bigger headache than ever." it says. But it warns that any rush to buy scarce goods will aggravate the problem. "It's patriotic as well as good housekeeping to refuse to buy any- thing that is dearer than it should be." it said. The leaflet was issued by the Economic Information unit of the ‘Treasury. Britain cut the official value of the pound Sept. 18 in the hope of making the price of export goods more attractive to dollar buyers. The cut increases tho cost. in pounds, of vital imports from the United States and Canada. The pound now is worth $3.10 Canadian. The leaflet advises housewives: l. "See that, the economics you have to make fall equally on all members of the family. Don't try to shoulder them all yvurself." 2.
