Strong Tuesday in Summerside Police Court follow- ing two separate incidents the pre- vious evening which left (our ve- hicles with varying degrees of damage. The joy-riding charge against the sailor, from tre visiting ship. was the sequel to the theft of a car owned by John MacCausland. a visiting tourist from New York state. who left his car moment- arily to enter a store -on Water Street. Police were notified of the car theit and a radio message to the pgtrol car proceeding eastward on Water Street Wcst was received by the patrol only moments be- fore they were forced off the high- way to avoid being struck by the stolen car which was proceeding westward in a dangerous manner. Immediately behind the patrol was a 1956 Pontiac driven by Har- old Robins. a salesman from the mainland, whose car was exten- sively damaged when it took the full force oi the collision which the police patrol had so narrowly missed. The stolen car was also damaged by the crash. and the cu-iver was taken into custody by the police.
