‘Wm. Briggs, Toronto, is receiving
mncli favorable criticism. .It is en-
titled Trails and Tales in Cobalt.,
and is packed full of fun, fnct and
fancy. The author, who tells us in
his preface that he was iii Rossland
at the time of the War Eagle slump
and spent five years in the mining
camps of Alaska _and the Yukon,
makes use_ of his acquired knowledge
while on a prospecting trip in Cobalt
ri description of .which he Igives us
in picturesque but cliustoned style.

stories told with freshness and vigor
Such a one as the story of Hyena
Kate, the woman who gave her life
to save her limp husband; or the
tnlc of the Northern Lights that

confesses, and is set loose through
the pleadings of the old man he rob-

Fell asleep in Jesus on April 13th,
1908, Captain James Wyatt, an aged
and highly respected. resident od
Mnrlhfield. Capt Wyatt, .though nil-
.ing for sometime was not thought
to be seriously ill, and passed
peacefully away, aged 75 years. He
was a man of exemplary high char-
ncter,' kind gentle disposition, which
won him many fxyiends, honest and
upright in all his dealings, always
ready to give a helping hand to the
poor and a word of encouragement
to_thc despondent. Captain Wyatt
took n great interest in the Navy
and was Captain of the lst Royal
Thistle Company of Prince Edward
to mourn the loss of n kind and af<
fectlonatc ,ather, Esther of Roxbury
Emily and Matilda at home. The
funeral took place on Thursday 16th,
April, and followed by a large con-
course' of friends, all that was mort-
al of the late Captain Wyatt was
-lnycd to rest in Marshfield Cemetery
to await the summons from on high.
