W“ the recent purchaser o! an automo- bile. --_- Mr. and Mrs. Walter Grant, of Charlottetown spent Tuesday in our town visiting friends. Rev. A. D. MacDonald returned to Souris this week, after having been in attendance at the Maritime Unit- ed church Conference, which was held at Sackvllle, N. 18., over the week end. We are pleased to see Mr. John McQuaid, of Souris, out again, after his recent indispositlon of several days. Hooked rugs and mats are again this year in great demand and each week several agents are on the rounds of Sourls and the Eastern end of the Island. Mr. Edgar Francis, of souris, is at present engaged in the taking of the Dominion Census in the outlying districts of Souris. \ A large number of people were in attendance at the Sourls Branch of the Canadian Legions dance, which was held in B. I. S. Hall on Wednes- day night. We understand that this is the last dance which will take place in this hall as Mr. B. H. Yeo is having changes made prior to the installation of the Talking Pictures. After these. changes are made it will be impossible to have any dances or functions take place that would necessitate the removal of the seats, as all seats will be secured to the floor. i On Tuesday night, Rev. J. R. Lu- cas, Bishop and Warden of the Church Army, spoke in the B. I. S. Hall at. Souris to a good audience. Also Captain S. G. Jackson. of the Canadian church army, gave a. very instructive lecture, which was illus- trated by lantern slides of the Church Army work ulhich is being carried on in England. On Wed- nesday night services of the Church oi! England were conducted in Sou- rls. Mrs. W. E. Robertson of EastlBial- tic was a recent visitor to Sourls and vicinity. The Sour-is High school gage; Corps, commanded by Lieutenant Billie Acorn, were inspected on Westley morning at rune o'clock at the Exhibition Grounds at Souris by Major A. C. Campbell, of Halifax. N. S. The Cadet Corps made a very nice showing in their snappy uni- forms and the manner in wruch they went through their different manoeuvres is worthy of note. Af- ter the inspection the cadets parad- ed to the ice cream parlor, where “he? were treated by their instruc- tor.
