It appeared that her change of residence led to other letters been mislaid. He wrote to her, looking forward to an early reunion, being unconscious of the real condition of affairs at home. He had not been killed ; but had been taken prisoner by the Indians, from whom he made good his escape, and had rejoined his comrades. The husband also wrote that he was in New Mexico. The woman, who was almost distracted upon receipt of the startling information communicated the facts to Mr. Feather- stone, who applied for a decree of divorcee with the result set forth A child, the issue of the second union, adds to the complications. -~-a—r- Tomatoes may be kept almost any length of time, and come out as fresh as when first picked, by preserving in fresh vinegar diluted with water— one gillof vinegar, and two of water.
