School committee reported soap needed for the school. In the absence of the sick committee. no report was given. New committees were then appointed as follows: Lunch and school, Mrs. Roy Dlckieson and Miss Ann Stevenson: sick. Mrs. Harold and Mrs. Richard Dickie- mn; program, Mrs. C. B. Dihgwell and Mrs. Foster Sellar. Correspondence was read and discussed. The secretary was ask- ed to write to Mr. Jones regard- ing the teaching of singing in the school. A committee was appointed to plan ways oftraising money for the piano fund. Mrs. Revell Dick- ieson offered to have the sewing class for the girls for another rear, each member to assist with the teaching as required. Mrs. R. B. Dickieson will entertain the next meeting. Mrs. Harland Hill had a "man" contest for the program, followed iiy a hearty sing-song: Collection amounted to 31.46, and the can- rnssers passed in collections for the Cancer Fund. An interesting description of her recent trip to points in the United States and the Province of Que- bec, illustrated with views, was given by Mrs. Erskine Clark. A reading was given by Mrs. Lloyd Wiikie. A pleasing feature of the meeting was the presentation of a birthday gift to the hostess, the presentation being made by the president, Mrs. Oliver. During the social hoiir, refreshments were served by the hostess and Mrs. George Irving. FRENCH RIVER W. I. The regular monthly meeting of Coronation W. I. was held at the home of Mrs, Elmer Parsons on Thursday evening. October 9. ' The meeting opened with the In- stitute Ode and repeating the Creed in unison. Minuta of the last meeting were read and approved and roll call was answered by 12 iembers and one visitor, each giving a donation for an Auction Sale. The Red Cross loan cupboard that had been sent for has been received and is in the charge of Mrs. Weldon Duggan R.N. The sick committee reported that two treats had been sent, and the new school committee appointed was Mrs. Arthur Paynter and Mrs. George Howatt. Correspondence consisted of a letter acknowledging the donation sent to the Cancer Campaign, and also a letter of thanks from the Salvation Army Red Shield appeal. The programme consisted of an auction sale and the sum of 35.65 was realized, Collection amounted to 90 cents. I. , Miss Murdock Nicholson was hostess to the South Milton Wo- men's Instltute on October 14 for the monthly meeting. The presi- dent, Mrs. J. D. MacDonald pre- sided. and opened the meeting with the Collect. Twelve members, re- sponded to roll call. The sick committee reported taking cards and fruit to two sick ladies. The school committee stat- ed that all the needs of the school had been supplied. Mrs. Nichol- son, reporting for Red Cross, had passed in six pairs of panties, one Sweater. and one blanket. More work was given out. The correspondence consisted of receipts for 344.05 from the Sal- vation Army, and 55.00 from the Cancer Fund; fees of 25 cents per member for the A. C.
