The Dominion government has decided to put the alien labor law in force in Mani- toba, the North-West and British Colum- bia, so as to protect the Canadian workmen on the Crow’« Nest Pass Railway from im- ported labor from the United States. The act van be put in operation by the minister of justice, Sir Oliver Mowat, appointing an agent to administer the act. It is therefore likely that agents will be appointed at Winnipeg, Manitoba; Lethbridge, N. W. a. and Rossland, B.
