J. Taylor. Limited. “Honest Weight" is an amusing tale of two rival fishermen as related by one ot the French Canadian guides who accompanied them on thai routing alter “de heeg wan." “Three Swedes there were" is also a humorous story relating the experiences ot a "vulgar rambling trlo" showing how every- thing turns to ashes to those without ia purpose. "Sport ln and around the Rocky Mountalns,” "Carefree Days in Newfoundland," etc. and the regular departments, which latter are full of interest to the fisherman and gunner, make up a very interesting early sum- mer issue. WUUNIJEI I$llll|]EH lEllS Ui YPHES FIGHT The following letter has been receiv- ed from Samuel Elliott of Wiusloe who went to the front with the first contingent and who is attached to the Canadian Scottish Regiment the 79 Cameron Highlanders. Pte. Elliott has .since been reported wounded. The Lodge referred to is Boyne L. O. L., of this city of which he is a member. France, May 9th, 1915. W. W. McPhee, Charlottetown, P. E. I. _ ul# Dear Friend and Brother:-- ` I received your welcome letter the day before yesterday. I was very glad to hear from you and the Brethren. . . . . . I have been through a good deal and one never knows when he is going to get hit. I was in the bayonet charge at Ypres where we made the Germans run. Bayonet charges are not all fun. The Regiment I am in is known as the Canadian Scottish so you will see by the papers what we have done. We got great praise for what we did. We are not allowed to give very much news in our letters but if I am spared to return I will give you all the news. I have to go on parade now will finish this letter when I come back. I have just returned from parade, General Alderson delivered a speech compllmentlng us on the good work done in the saving the situation. He read us telegrams from the King and from leading men oil- over Canada. Of course we lost a lot of men but as General Alderson says "they have not died in vain.” You will see it all in the papers. There is a church service tonight at 7 o'olock_ 1 must take lt in. It is not very often we get the chance. We were in the trenches last Sunday. We were in over two weeks and were glad to get out for a rest. .I must thank your for your kindness and trouble in regard to my Insurance. I always think of the Lodge when the night comes round and I wish I could drop in and see you all. Remember me io Brethren and friends. Yours fraternally. SAMUEL ELLIOTT, ' Passed by Censor, No. 567.
