However, the Con- stitution of Student Union. states that we must hold a spring general meeting. Therefore, it was agreed that a-Council Meeting & General Meeting would be held in conjunction with each other on April 6th at 6:30 p.m. in Duffy Ame phitheatre. 7 On Tuesday, there will be'a;meeting on the idea of compiling a Student Calen— dart? The meeting will be held‘in the Student Union Offices at l p.m. All‘in- terested students are aske ed to attend as a student calendar involves about 10,000 questionaires and a _ great amount of work in col- lecting the data and compil- ing it into a useful calen— dar. ' The re-opening of an Except in Bartenders Internal Advertising posi- tion was discussed. This ‘pOsition would mainly in? volve the making of posters to advertise events on cam- pus. It was decided that the person chosen for this position would be paid by salary or honararium. The amount was to be decided at a later council meeting. Ray Shalala reported on attending what he felt was a rather disorganized meeting of the Residence 'Council Committee. 'Council felt that they were not well enough informed to make a decision on this matter so it was tabled. The matter of Clyde Bell's maintenance super— vision of the Barn, was discussed. The figure of $125.00 a week was discuserv sed. There was some dis- agreement as to what Clyde was making at the present time. Therefore, it was tabled until the next meet— ing. The raise will take effect on April lst. Also, part-time cleaning staff was placed under thedirect sup— ervision of Mr. Bell; giv- ing him the power to hire & fire all part—tlme cleaners. The matter of buying 15 jackets and armbands for the Campus Police was dis- cusedo The maximum amount to be spent wasesetgat $400, The vote was close and there wereseveralabstentions but the proposal was approved. The matter of hiring student police was discussed. Personnnl Board recommended 15 people for positions. The matter was discussed at -length and the names of those hired and not acceptéd was tabled By Craig MacDowell. A motion was made that the Personnel Board recommenda— tions be accepted. The Chief of Campus Police will be chosen by a joint decis- ion of the Campus Police & the Personnel Boar . The‘ 15 people chosen by the Per- sonnel Board were accepted by Council. _ In other business, Gor- don Campbell brought up'what he called the ”ridiculous" amount of money paid out to bartenders and/ticket'se11-' ers at the Pig n' Whistles at the Gym. The total ex— .pense at the Molly Oliver performance was 2 people at $20 for ticket sellers, and two people at $30 for bar- tenders. Also, the topic of paying $150 to rent our own gym was discussed.‘ It was moved that the Person- nel review salaries of all paid personnel at such fun- @tions with the understand- ing that present pay scales were in the present councilfis 'opinion, too high. The matter of Student Union scholarships for Stu— dents doing considerable work on a volunteer basis for Student Union was br— ,ought up by Donna McGaughjh and Brian Howatt.- It was approved by council.
