'1‘he course will be s ISO-operative enterprise following the pattern oi a similar course conducted ior a shorter period last year. Instruc. tion will be provided in swimming. liie saving, iirst aid, nature study. out-trip planning, handicralts, camp management, nutrition. camp health and sanitation, ioreatry and conservation. and progrgm planning. Candidates ior Canadian Red Cross instructions in aquatics and iirst aid are also expected to attend. , Two cam/ping periods ior boys 10-14 years oi age are planned. Witness wen-t. into McKays yard and got a step ladder but it was too short. I-Ie then saw Joseph coming through air irom third story window. He was not hurt. I-lc probably hit some wires in his iall. Witness thought ' girls should have been saved. He did not think they were wedged in wind-ow. The iiremen arrived at 2.20. When told by Mr. James Power that iireman had turned Hughes Corner at 2 o'clock, witness said he could not. help that. The lire- men, he said, did not arrive be- iore 2.20. Had he known they would not arrive beiore that, wit- ness could have had all his furni- ture saved. Instead. he lost _it all. The police had arrived iour or ilve minutes alter witness had phoned the station. Cst. MacNevin said he had re- ceived a call in the Patrol about 1.55. lie and 0st. But people were calling that there were women in the burning building. Witness helped to put a ladder up and someone ran up it. Someone else broke the upper part of the third storey window where the girls were seen Then ladder was moved to west side. The iiremen upon their arrival put an extension ladder up. Witness then went to Machealfs Funeral Parlours for an oxygen tank. When he got back, the girls were out. Witness went to Cltj/ Hospital with one oi the girls in Hcnnesseys ambulance. A Sister said the younger girl was dead and a iew minutes later Dr. Sopcr arrived and said thcre was no use in giving oxygen to the older girl. that she was dead also.
