tion: "Are you in favor of the city
engaging in the dead meat trade to
supply retailers, and to raise $200,-
000 by an issue of debentures in ord-
er to carry on this business?" The
proposition was brought forward hy
Alderman Dunn. If it is favored by
the people the city probably will kill
live stock at the new city abattoir
and endeavor to compete with the
private companies which are now
supplying the retail butchers.

of $271,000, Sept. 14, 1911. Among
notes stolen from the banks were
those of series $492,000. Flanagan is
