SPORTS FRONT By mus CALLAGHAN We ventured away from this desk long enough to get a glimpse of Royals losing their third straight game to North Sydney Combines, this time by a 9-6 score. We were not at all surprised that the Whitlock-coached crew dropped their battle, for they were playing with a mere skele- ton of a team — a team that did visitors undoing. They lacked any semblance of coherence and when they finally recovered themselves Combines led 3-0. Allie Carver, who the night be- fore pulled the hat trick for the early exceptionally well to stay within striking distance of the fast skat- ing Combines. After Kip Reody was injured in the opening period, Royals played the rest of the out as the final siren screeched. ' It seems most regrettable that the locals could not ice a strong- er team in the Combines’ rink. If they had them the series would have ended in the North Sydney backyard. A nicer spot for the crusher couldn't be found. This is the night for .all good sport fans to wend their way to the Sports Arena for the Jake Kennedy Benefit Night. This is a great opportunity for all folks who felt so sorry when Glasgow is ready for Royals in a best-of-five or best-of-seven af- fair.
