Let us all determine that from now on dur- ing the summer mouths we shall put forth every effort in our var-, ious programs. The Grand Scribe will report the‘ actions taken by the Executive at its mid-winter, or post-annual Grand Division session. It will be sufficient for ms to mention here c meeting planned for Summerside in connection with a proposed quar- torly session of this court. It was the intention of the Executive to challenge the authorities of Sum- merside with their duty to make a more reasonable effort to clean up the liquor situtaion there, some elements of which appear to the average person as little less than ridiculous. Later it was ‘decided im- practicable to can thg Grand Div- ision in session for the meeting, and other plans were made which have not to date issued in a meet- ing. This session may be called up- on to deal with the matter. Boforc we meet again in quart- erly session, National Division will have met with the Grand Division of‘ Nova Scotis in Yarmouth. Taming to a consideration of conditions throughout the province in the matter of liquor enforce- ment, and general liquor conditions, there does not seem to be an great ‘ for the better or the worse. The Prohibition Commission report that there were 2360 search- es made last year, 129 seizures were made, and 2'74 convictions secured. It is a matter of interest to note that considerably over one hair the seizures made were in the town of Summerslde. And more along this same line, the report for the first three months of 1084 is that there were more than half as uiany seiz- ures made in Summerside as there were made in that town during the proceeding twelve months. But from the 40 seizures only ‘i convictions were secured. It does seem some- what strange that only ‘l convictions were secured. 1t does seem some- what strange that it is so easy to find liquor and yet so difficult to get convictions. ‘I coll your attention "to the fact that the blic is feeling again the danger the drinking auto driver -onc of the greatest dangers to highway travel that exist today.
