THE Dominion Day races which will take place ou the Summerside driving park next Monday will certainly be the sporting event of the season. Theme is an unusual- ly large number of entries, representing the 1sland’s best speed. The track is in excellent condition and some fast work may be looked for. All interested in horses and horse racing should attend the Do- minion Day races next Monday. TH1-: examination of the Fanuingschool, Malpeque, took place on Wednesday. Dr. D. J . McLeod, Superintendent of Educa- tion, and about fifty parents and visitors were present. The examination was conducted by the Superin- tendent and R. B. Murphy, teach- er, Sea. View and others. The pupils ac- quitted themselves admirably and receifv-‘ ed much commendat-ion from the visitors. The Cumberland Scholarship was won by Miss Lucy Montgomery, daughter of the late John Montgomery Esq. The number of cash prizes were destrilsuted by the trustees of the Cumberland Trust. The examination was pronounced a very satisfactory one and Principal Shaw and Miss MacKelvie, his assistant, were highly complimented on the excellent standing maintained by the school.
