For many years Mr. Whelan was employed with Mr. John,,Bell in the shoe making business in Chnrlottetowii. By thrift and industry he succeeded in accumul- ating some valuable property in this city. Ile was iniich respected here and was iilwnys regarded as an honest upright man-an excel- lent citizen in nil regards. Mr. Ylfhelan married Miss Sadie Ross, youngiest daughter of the late Mr. John Ross of this city. Short- ly after marriage 'they decided to go to Ontario ullili. locate there. They had been residing in Midland for some years and no doubt the some success that attended Mr. Whelan here continued with him in tha-t part of Canada.
