An addition is being built at the north end of the building which will contain the entrance to this health center. it is understood that the bal- ance of the building will be used to carry on in conjunction with the new hospital. Plans. when completed. call for the whole building to contain fifty-six beds. There is considerable remodel- ling, renovating. and shifting par- titions being done. Fireproof partitions are being installed around the stsii-ways. Much of the plumbing. partic- ularly the fixtures, will be gone over. and some of it will be dis- lcarded and new fixtures instal- ed. The section of the building north of the main stairway, which will be the health center. will contain the entrance to the health center. stairways to the second floor. and the basement, a waiting lobby. a general office, two rooms for the public health nurses. two examin- ation and treatment rooms. On the second floor of this section will be located two rooms for clinic doctors. s welfare office. clinic workers and social workers room. and an examination room. ' The main floor of the south end of the building which will be used in conjunction with the new hos- pital. will contain an x-ray room. dark room. storage room. utility room, baths and toilets. and will hsve'4 semi-private rooms. and 2 four-bed wards. The second floor of this sec- tion will contain 5 single bed rooms. 3 semi-private. 2 four-bed wards. and one six-bed ward. Plans call for the third floor. if the plans for this floor are ap- proved. to contain fifteen beds. practically all single rooms. The estimated cost of remodel- ling this building is placed be- tween thirty-five and fourty thousand dollars. and it is a joint project of the Dominion and Pro- vincial Governments. The work involved is expected to provide employment for sev- eral Summerside workers. The remodelling of the build- ing is under the direction of Mr. W. R. Maynard. who was build- lng inspector on the new hospital which was opened last year.-S. Freetown.
