Letters... YOUR FORUM FOR DISCUSSION. The Gem vigorously encourages dissent and contro- versy and prints all letters to the Editor except those of a malicious nature. Letters must be signed and include the authors phone number. However, names can be withheld from publica- tion by request. Deadline for letters is Monday, 5:00pm. Dear Editor I would like to know what the Sports Editor, Dar- rell Cole has been up to for the past 6 weeks. Since the January 7th issue of the Gem there has been no mention of the UPEI Hockey Pan- thers. Up until last weeks is- sue, there was not even men- tion of our nationally ranked basketball teams. You would expect the University to get a_ lit- tle excited considering the Hockey Panthers are cur- rently ranked # 1 in the” country!! It is bad enough that the University cannot afford new uniforms for the team, but come on now. How about a little support! In case you didn’t hear, the Hockey Panthers won both games this past- week- end over Mt. Allison 9-2 on Friday evening, and 6-5 on Sunday. A Disappointed Hockey Fan EDITOR’S REPLY: It’s kinda hard finding people on campus to write sports. Dar- rell Cole, our sports edi- tor has been busy with his courses and didn’t have time to write. However, The Gem welcomes Matthew Beards- ley to its sportswriting staff, so you can look forward to more sports coverage. If you are interested in helping cover the sports or know of anyone who may be, come down and talk to us... we need writers, _BIPS-WARP — ooo VE-NING, EVE-NING, EVENING, EVE NING. € ue-NING, EVE- NING.
