An Act to amend the Act for the establishment ofa Bank of Savings, in Prince Edward Island. [Passed April 3, 1865.] HEREAS it would tend to render the Savings ‘ Bank, which has been established under the Act of the twenty-seventh Victoria, chapter four, more extensively useful to the classes ofller Majesty’s subjects, for whose benefit the same has been estab- lished, if interest were allowed on deposits from an earlier period after the deposits being made, than that authorized by the seventh section of the said Act. I. Be it therefore enacted by the Lieutenant Gov- ernor, Council and Assembly, that the said seventh section ofthe said recited Act, twenty-seventh Vic- toria, chapter four, intituled “ An Act for the estab- lishment of a Bank of Savings, in Prince Edward Island, shall be, and the same is hereby repealed. ll. That in order to simplily the keeping of the Books of the said Savings Bank, and the mode of calculating the interest to be paid on deposits, the accounts thereof shall be kept by a monthly system : The commencement ofthe monthly accounts shall be on the first day of every month, in each and every year; and interest shall be allowed from the first day of every month, respectively, on the amountdeposited in each preceding month, and all interest which may be due to the several depositers on the thirty-first day of December in each year. shall from that time be made principal. An Act to amend the Act of twenty-sixth Victoria» chapter four, incorporating the Union Bank of Prince Edward lsland. ' {Passed April 3. 1865.] "[lEREAS it is expedient to amend the above \I mentioned Act, by altering the day ofholding the annual meeting ofthe stockholders, from the first Tuesday in April to the first \Vednesday in March, annually; and likewise the days making the semi- annual return, by the Cashier, as mentioned in the said Act. Be it therefore enacted by the Lieutenant Gov— ernor, Council and Assembly, as follows :— I. That the day of holding the annual meeting, mentioned in the fifth and twenty-seventh sections of the said Act. shall, from and after the first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eirrht hundred and sixty-six, be the first \Vcdncsday in March, annually, instead of the first Tuesday in April; and that the semi-annual returns to be made by the Cashier, in terms ofthe thirty-third section of the said Act, shall be made on the first \Vednesday in March and first \‘Vednesday in September yearly, instead of the first Tuesday in April and the first Tuesday in October. _..._.______ C A P . X X I I I . An Act for the appointment of Clerks to Justices of the Peace, and to regulate proceedings had before them. [Passed April 3,1801] E it enacted by the LieutenantGovernor, Council and Assembly, as follows: I. From and after the passing of this Act, it shall be lawful for any Justice or Justices ofthe Peace, in any district oftbis Island, if he or they shall deem it necessary, to appoint a Clerk, for whose act or acts he or they nevertheless shall be responsible,and who shall assist in the discharge of his or their duties, which Clerk shall be sworn to execute his duties faithfully; and being so sworn, shall be author.- ized to issue in his own name and style of office, summonses, being for civil injuries only. and in all cases subpoenas, also to enter and complete all re- cognizances taken before such Justices, and to execute all papers of appeal, and administer theoath on such affidavits, as the law requires for obtaining an appeal to draw up and sign convictions, and to prepare any other necessary instrument's, prevxous to its execution by such Justices according to law; and the said Clerk shall be remunerated by such Justice or Justices, in such manner and on such terms as shall be agreed upon between such Clerk and the Justice or Justices who shall have so em- ployed him; provided always, that no fees in any matter, suit or process, shallbe taken In addition to, or other than such as are regulated and established by any Act ofthe General Assembly of this Island.
