CATHERINE GOODWIN In the early morning hours of January 13. the angel of death claimed the Soul of Mrs. Cather- ine Goodwin one of Kensingtonu oldest residents. Mrs, Goodwin who was in her 82nd year, was in good health un- til the night before her death when she was stricken with In acute heart attack. All that med- ical skill and loving care could do was of no avail and fortified by the last rites of the Roman Cath- clic Church she passed peace- fully Iway. Mrs. Goodwin was born on the farm where her er.- tire life was spent. or I gentle loveable iepositlon she was be- loved by all who knew her. Called upon to bear the heavy cross of losing three of her chil- dren. in three years viz Patrick. Agnes and Nellie. who were ex- ceptional students on the thres- hold of promising careers, her Christlan fortitude was most ed!- fvlng. A few years later her hus- bnmi passed to his eternal re- ward. Although advanced in years Mrs. Goodwin was quite active. attending to her own household duties and frequently helping to care for her grandchildren who cheered her declining years. Her death, coming with such short warning, was I great shock to her family and friends. Her funeral was held January 15 to the Church of the Holy Family. Community-wide sympathy is being extended to the relatives and friends of the late Mr. John Mor- rissey whose death occurred at his home in New Jersey on Feb. 4. Mr. Morrisscy. who was born in Ascension. son of the late Mr and Mrs. William Mortimer, left the Island in his youth to take up residence in the U.S.A. Left to mourn hm loss are three sisters and four brothers: Walter of Mer- ritt, B.C.; Arthur, of Port. Arthur. Ont.: Walter. of Haverhlil, Maas.: Joseph, of Ascension, P. E. 1.; Al- berta (Mrs. Hanalanl. and Cath- rine (Mrs. Stevens), both of Bus- ton, Mass, and Miss Mary Ellen Morrisscy of Ascension, P. E. I. Sympathy of the community is cxtended to the bereaved relatives of Mrs. Plus shes. whose death o:curred at her home in Califor- nia the past week. The late Mrs Shea was formerly Miss Georgina Mocarthy. daughter of the late Capt. and Mrs. John B. McCarthy of Tignish.
