The United Baptist Year Book of
the Maritime Provinces of Canada for
the year 1911, of which the Guardian
has received a copy and which has

the organization and the work of the
church in the Maritime Provinces dur-
ing tllc last year. The volume, which
is of over 200 pages, was edited by
Robert J. Colpitts, of Keswick Rid,
ge. (N. B.) The frontispiece is an ex-
cclleut portrait of Rev. J. W. Mann-
ing, D. D., president of the conven-
tion. Ths minutes of the maritime
convention which was held at Brid-
getown, (N. S.) in August, with tho
reports submitted to the convention,
are given in full, making a very' com-
plete record, of the church's activi-
ties. The reports of the afllliated as-
sociations and the reports of the edu-
cational and other institutions con-

who has retired. Captain Murchison

Weekly, Z4 years old, unhesitatingly
sacrificed his life lust night to
save that of n little girl in danger of
being run down by a speeding express
train. While thc young man from the
country dashed to the resells scores
of city dwellers stood by and looted
on helplessly.
Weekly got a Dlacc with an insur-
ance company almost. immediately af-
ter coming here from Valley, Neb.,
and he was returning to his boarding
place after it day's work when ho
lost his lifc. He had just stepped
street when he heard men yelling and
women screaming, and looking about
he saw the little girl standing direct-
ly in the path of the onrushing en-
gine.
He bounded across three tracks.
