He stressed the folly of sending anything to that market but what ls demanded by the Brit- ish people themselves. The British market is the greatest market in the world to take care of our sur- plus products. There are 40,000,000 consumers. and this vast market will absorb. on the day of its arrival. practically everything we can send over, paying cash prices. But we must be eon- tent to take their valuation. and there is no market in the world _ that has such extreme fluctuations. The Britlshers will pay a very high price for what they want. but they will pay only poor prices for some- thing which may be lust as good from our standpoint. but which is not exactly according to their re- qulrements.
