O'Connell vs. Sackville Dusiin, Dec. 9. The Council at a meeting last night by by vote of thirty-one against twelve, re- solved to change the name of Sackville Street to O'Connell Street. A deputation of tradesmen appeared at the meeting and protested against their action, whereupon T. D. Sullivan, M, P., warned them that thery were opposing the wishes of the Irish people. This was construed as a threat to Boycott them, The tradesmen are raising a fund to test the legality of the action of the corporation. Graving Deck At Halifax. Lonpon, Dee. 9. Earl Northbrook, first Lord of the Admir- alty, gave an audience to-day toa deputa- tion of shipping merchants, who made pro- posals for the corstruction of a graving dock at Halifax. The matter has been re- ferred to the British Admiral commanding at Halifax. The capital necessary for the construction of the dock has been subscribed, subject to the final decision of the Admir- alty, which Lord Northbrook intimated would be favorable, Ottawa News.
