The late Mr. Daugherty. was the last male member of an old and highly respected family. whose his- tory-Vis far famed for honesty up- rlghtnese, and integrity. He was a life long resident or Emyvale. where his memory will remain green. ow- ing to his nobility of character. and the writer offers a personal tribute to the beautiful qualities of heart Lad mind, that shone so brightly in the 111's of the late Francis Dough- erty. Being the youngest of a large family he remained on the farm with his aged parents. whilst the love, respect. and tender care that he gave them, made him universally respected. and merited their dying benediction. As a husband. father. and neighbor. he was ideal. whilst the stranger and down-trodden we're welcome to his home, where hospi- tality and a word of cheer. so gra- siously given. helped them to forget the trials incident to humanity. for lt mattered not how sombre were the clouds o'er life's horizon, he could observe the silver lining.
