Page 2 The Gem Hall Happenings: No-Talent Show 90 The comparitively-warm tem- peratures of late March appar- ently have an unusual effect on certain campus-dwellers. It seems that every spring, there is a large number of residents who get the idea that they possess some form of talent. For the most part, this notion of theirs seems silly (it is by no means a permanent af- fliction; like temporary insanity, it eventually passes). As silly as this notion may seem, however, it can prove to be infinitely enter- taining. It thus came to pass that on the evening of March 28, many would-be performers came out of the closet, for it was on this night that the House Committees of Marian and Bernardine, together with Residence Life, staged the fifth annual No-Talent Show in the Marian Hall lounge. As in previous years, the turnout Wednesday night was ex- ceptional; fifteen acts had signed up to strut their stuff, and un- der the guidance of emcees Tony MacKenzie and Chris Livingston, the show proved to be one of the most successful and enter- taining in recent memory. It is unfortunate that great atten- Thursday, April 5, 1990 tion cannot be paid to each act; there are, however, several per- formances that, for different rea- sons, stood out from the oth- ers. The most notable of these acts consisted of Scott Gallant and Kim Wells, whose rendition of ”Puss ’n Boots” earned them first-place honours (the judges overlooked the fact that Scott had neglected to shave his legs). 189 Kent Street, Charlottetown 894-429] Bb riceces «merece ome FREF AS you ENTER ue. yg = Ladies CO A @ PRIZES CT ~l € «lite!
