Campbell, a tax col- lector for the Peters Government aod former Paris Green agent for Lower Car- digan, was the only man who had the courage to facethe music for the Peters Government at the convention in Cardigan. He was accepted, not as the choice of the few Grits present, but because no one else would allow himself to be used for that purpose. After a couple of days looking around among the people Roderick found out that they had many things against him and was told plainly that the Peters Government was doomed and must go out and tnat many of the former Supporters for this Government are sick and tired of it and are thoroughly ashamed of its extravagance and corruption. Roder- ick seeing the indignation so strong. backed down, threw up the sponge, and thinks it an easer job to fight the potato bugs than the Liberal-Conservatives in the present struggle. The people of Lower Cardigan will not support @ Government with such a Com- missioner of Public Works as James R. McLean and such a selfish Road Super- visor as Michael D. Honest economical Government is what the people want new, and they are determined to do their best to assist in wiping out of existence the most corrupt Government this side of Russia. Electors of Prince Edward Island do your duty on the 21st inst. Put out the Peters Combination and put in the Honor- able Daniel Gordon with his followers of able, experienced and honest business men. If you make a mistake the day will come when you will regret. I’ AR MER. King’s Co., July 12th, 1897. a LETTER FROM MR. C. B, CHAPPELL Sir,--For the benefit ot “College Boy Foo!- ed” in yesterday’s Examiner I may say: allof the materials specified for the new college are of the best kind. The construction will not be of flamsy nature and the brick walls are thick and ample for a building of that kind. The floors over the class rooms with a span of 26 feet, are made of heavy joists 24 inches think and 14 inces deep placed 12 inches apart and bridged with 2x3 stuff every 5 feet. This is the method (when long timber can be had) followed in the floors of all modern schoo! building and is the bert as there are objections to pillars in the rooms. C.B. CHaperen..
