CHARLOTFETOWN GUARDIAN STOCK QUOTA TIONS Montreal Stock Toronto Exchange New York Stock llieorgetown lligh School closing Closing exercises of George- town High School were held in the Town Hall on June 27th. Over 100 parents and visitors were present to enjoy an inter- esting program by the children; and student; of the schonl. Among the interesting features o: the program were: step dances, and Highland Fling by little girls‘ and boys; Birdie Song and Cookyl Man by small boys and girls, alsol San Antonio Rose, by senior girls. l Presentation of prizes and cer- tificates followed the prpgram of‘ songs and recitatlons, c'.c., after] which the little ones were dis- missed, and remarks and address-l es to parents and visitors were heard. Those making comments were: Mr. Howard MacDmald. Secre- tary, who stressed the need of re- gular attendance and careful study throughout the year rather than “last minute" preparations for examinations. Rev. Mr. Ster- ling gave a brief and helpful ad- dress al-"o. Mrs. DeLory_ trustee, spoke in commendation of the effort andl success of the teachers, and in reference to attendance and prizes expressed her opinion that the "mothel-s‘ of boys and girls who attend regularly ilirwghol" the year should get prizes, a fact, that mos-t of us regret havng failed to think of before. Mrs. DeLory, reminded us that few teachers and school ollficers real- ize the etfort and. vigilant care and me difficulty the mothers face and overcome in keepmg a family of children in schozl reg- ularly throughout an entire year. Mrs. DeLory is on the Honor Roll in this respect also Mrs. James Mc- Connell and Mrs. Chester Walker, and others. l Howard Walker, son of Mr. andl Mrs. Chester" Walker, graduating? this year. has the recozd‘ of not one duy missed from grade I to X inclusive except a week during illness with scarlet fever. i Mrs. James McC:nnell claims‘ the record of a family who al- ways have perfect attendance. Why haven't we thought of one "mothers" before when we all know the strenuous effort it takes to keep a family or even one in school every day, year in and year out, the extra work and over work of such mothers? Prizzs were presented by thei women's Institue to the boys and girls having perfect atten- dance, and second and third in same grades by teachers, to those who‘ having made a great effort at perfection, failed owing to ill- ncess or other unavoidable causes. The pleasant afterncon came to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. In conclusbn credit must be given to Mrs. Jenkins and Miss Roie Falrchild, who kindly assisted‘ the teachers with this program, and to whom much of its success was due. In appreciation of effort and success, gifts were preIented to the teachers by their respective classes of various pupils. also to Miss Faircllild and Mrs. Jenkins by the teachers. The behaviour of the little oneS during the long and varied 0- gram. was such such as to make the teachers roud of their charges, and spec a1 mention should be made of the graduating class of boys who remained‘ standing for several hours in order that the little ones and visitors might be seafc: and also gave assistance in keeping the various classes in order for different numbers.
