Wel- lington. on Friday evening. June 4 with the president in the chair. The council planned on immedi- ate drive for membership and funds. Messrs. Douglas MacFar- lane, J. W. Howe, and Irving Toombs were appointed a com- mittee to deal with this matter. Mrs. Muriel Maclnnis. Borden. was appointed a delegate to the 13th National Convention to be held at the MacDonald Hotel. Ed- mnnton. Alberta. on July 28-30. The book “J. S. Woodsworth -— A Man To Remember." a biog- raphy of the late J. S. Wondworth, founder of the C. C. F. party, written by his daughter, Mrs. Grace Maclnnis. was reviewed and highly commended by Mr. J. W. Howe who reminded the meet- ing that Mrs. Grace Maclnnls. the wife of a former Islander. Mr. Angus Maclnnis, M. P. A native of Glen William. P. E. 1.. recently received the Governor Genera1's Medal, the highest award for biography. at the University of British Columbia. for this work. Mr. Murdock MacLeod invited the council to his home in Long River for their next meeting in August. the date to be decided later. Before the meeting adjourned a hearty vote of thanks was extend- ed to Mr. and Mrs. Gallant for their kind hospitality and delicious refreshments. —S. I Summerside A.A.A Annual Campaign To Promote Sport The Summerside Amateur Ath- letic Association whose work in- cludes organizlng, coaching, and supplying, equipment for such sporting activities in Summerside as baseball, softball, tennis, bas- ketball, football. track and field, and hockey will be staging their annual drive for funds with which to carry on their work of promot- ing sport and making participa- tion possible for as many as are interested. In their sponsorship nf hockey last winter more than 300 vouths participated. The drive gets underway this week. In carrying out their program last year this orgnnization spent almost‘$5.000 in their sponsorship of various sport activities. This summer, under the sponsorship of the A. A. A. Johnny Carroll will be.irl charge of sport at Queen Elizabeth Park, and in ad- dition to this will be teaching baseball to the little league and little bigger leagues. Dr. H. E. Clark is general chair- man of the drive. The special names chairman is Earl Hickey, and the chairman of the house to house canvas is Robert Hogg. Special nsmes collectors are starting their canvass this week and will onclude by Saturday.
