Arts & Entertainment Type Casting Directed by: Laurel Smythe Written by: Julie Sauve & Laurel Smythe Type Casting played this past Saturday to a respectable sized crowd at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. It was a production of the Cross Cultural Theatre Company. The play was a very enjoyable comedy that gave us all a few serious aspects to look at. It opened with a nervous young girl from El Salvador about to embark on her first day of high school right here in PEI. As her and her class mates went from class to class their teachers confronted them with serious questions about the world they live in. One problem in particular, racism. Each of these situations (acid rain, racism, overpopulation) was dealt with in the class situation by suggesting sensible solutions. I think we all left a little wiser. Congratulations to the cast for a job well done, to the writers for the amusing and informative contents, and to the stage manager for a well designed set. I'd like to give special recognition to Diane Tutty for her portrayal of Jennifer, a small but well done part.
