The annual cricket match between Can- ada and the United States began yesterday. When play stopped at six o’clock the United | States team had completed an innings with a score of 269, and Cannda’s score, with loss of one wicket, was 14. The Canadian team to-day finished its first innings with a total of 141 runs, and immediately started its second inning, making 97 runs. This gave them a total of 238 for two innings— 31 less than the United States in its single innings yesterday. The latter team were an easy winner of the match. Embezzlement. Epmunpston, N. B., July 15. The trial of The Queen vs. Cromar, charged with the embezz'ement of about $6,000 from the People’s Bank of Halifax, white in charge of the agency here, was concluded to-day. The jury found the prisoner guilty of larceny. He was given three years’ imprisonment in Dorchester Penitentiary. The Commander.in-Chief. Ortawa, July 15. The name of Colonel Charles Robiason, assistant secretary of the Horse Guards, and brother of Hon. John Beverley Robin son, late Lieut.
