Then one day I noticed a ‘Bike’ advertisement in our daily paper and, of course, I read it. It was a C.C.M. advertise- ment and from it I learned many things about a ‘two-wheeler’ I never knew before. "The following Friday another C.C.M. advertise- ' ment appeared in the paper and, you may be sure, I read it, too. It convinced me that if I ever did get a bicycle it would simply have to be a C.C.M. "Then I got the idea of showing these newspaper advertisements to my Dad-he's always reading ‘his newspaper’ and quoting from it. So Friday night after dinner I kept an eye on him as he read ‘his paper‘ and when he came to the page with the C.C.M. advertisement on it I said ‘Look, Dad! a bike advertisement-let's read it‘. Dad read it and said ‘Humph’, and then I showed him the next week’s advertisement and others that appeared later. "Then one Spring day I coaxed him again for, not a just any bicycle, but a new C.C.M. bicycle and to my surprise he asked me why I wanted a C.C.M. especially, so I told him all the things I had read about in the advertisements and he listened. When I finished, what do you think he said? ‘Good boy, I see you’ve been reading the ads-well, so have I‘. "To make a long story short. I made promises to Dad about doing my homework and going to bed early. so I got my wonderful new C.C.M. bicycle and Oh Boy! how -I~ love it, but I know I never would have got it without those C.C.M. news- paper advertisements. Theyiold" Dad and believe me he's ‘tough’ to ‘se11'." i One of a series of announcements featuring specific examples of the power of newuplper advertising to build business: Canadian Daily Newspapers .
