He would mix grain with the pulproots. <A two-year-old cow should have from 20 to 50 pounds of roots each day. He would recommend the feeding of sheaf oats,—at noon would be the best time. The amount of waste by feeding oats in the sheaf would depend upon the feeders. It is not possible to supply :nimals with sufficient water from the roots. When a cow is giving from 20 to 40 pounds of milk per day it does not seem possible to get along without water. Rape is equal in feeding properties to good clover hay. When it is impossible to sift oats it is better to feed wheat middlings. When oats are worth a cent a pound and wheat middlings area cent a pound it is advisable to exchanye. One pound of middlings and one pound of bran are better in feeding foods, properties. Rape will taint the milk. Turnips will taint the milk also. Most of the cheese makers are skilled menand they can tell easily when milk is defective. Raw economical feed for cattle. It is possible to feed more mangels than turnips. After the turnips have been in the cellar for some time a larger amount can be fed the milk cows. The best time to feed turnips is directly after milking. Mr. Dryden said he would not like to see those present go too far with | the feeding of turnips. He believed | that turnips would cause a taint in ithe milk. This taint could be easily detected in butter a few days old. In fresh butter it is not so distinct. Mr. Raynor, continuing, said that in regard to feeding horses he would feed the bulk at night. Heaves are very often caused by bad feeding on the partof the owner or keeper. Limited quantities of hay or cats are good tor a heaithy y tone of the system.
