CURB THE TOURIST An endeavor is being made this year by all branches of the C. A. H. A. to curb the activities of the “Tour- ist" hockey player and in order to protect the Marltimes from a repeti- tion of what happened to the Truro Club last. season. when three of their stars were barred from Allan Cup competition. This warning is going out to the clubs at this time so that there will be no grief‘ next winter. ' Players who havocome or who are contemplating coming into the Maritimes before May l5 to ploy hockey next season must obtain u release from their old club and make sure that their transfer ‘virill be granted them by the Registrar of the C. A. and it would appear that the only alternative that the Mnritimes should adopt, is the promotion of Junior hockey in all towns where Senior hockey is being played and within a year or two there will be a. steady source of hockey material available right here in the Meritimes without having to depend on unportlnz Diayers from other Provinces-in the Dominion. Tufffusiii: in wiBQiEiEWQsr month, the Maritime delegates were‘ successful in obtaining a $500 granti for the promotion of Junior ‘hockey and next season with all towns properly organized and Junior leagues formed, the Maritime Junior champions will meet the Quebec champions in the Memorial Cup playdoivns and if successful will go further in the Dominion Junior playdoivns ivirh all expenses paid by the C. G. T. Sprlggs, Rector. ill memomm JAMES MCCARTHY Many hearts were saddened when word was passed around that on the evening of March 21st, the angel of death entered the home ol’ Mrs. John McCarthy and taking for its victim her dearly beloved son, James at the early age of 43 years. Though an invalid for the past two years, strick- en with rheumatic fever, tender nursing and loving cure of u devoted mother, with expert medical atten- tion, nothing could wlihoid the hand of death. The deceased possessed a pleasing personality and by his hon- esty and kindness, endeared himself to all who had the pleasure of know- ing him in life for to know him was to love him. Even in his most try- ing hours, he always had a cheerful smile and a welcome luind for CVCl‘_\'— one who visited him on his sick bed. In the home, he will be sadly miss- ed as a loving and aficctlonate sun and brother. In the community, ivhere he lived as a kind and oblig- lfll nciifhbor, always putting others before himself. The respect of the deceased was showed by the largo concourse of people that gathered to view the remains and to follow them to their last resting place. He was visited during his sickness by his be- loved pistor, who administered to him the lust and rights of the R. C. Church, of which he was a deviled membe . On March 23rd, his funeral was held to St. Paul's Church. Sturgeon, where Requiem High Muss was sung by his pastor, Rev. 0. V. McCube, and all that was mortal of o true friend. 1min: eon and brother w“ laid 0o rest» in family plot, beside that of his father. who predeceased him by four months and his two sis- ters, Catherine and Martha, who pro. deceased him by n. number of years. There are left to mourn and cher- ish his memory, a grief stricken mo- ther, four brothers and eight sisters, to all of whom the community ex- tends their sincere sympathy. -May his soul rest in peace".
