What would be thought of the Steam
Nivigation Company if its tlne boats
which now ply across the straits during L
six days of the week, were to set up Sun-
day trips in addition? What would be
thought. and said were our farmers, mer-
chants, factory men with one accord to
set aside all restrictions of law divine and
nuiuan and pursue their regular weekly
callings on the day of rest! Would that
i-e ii good thing or a bad thing for the
public healtlmnorals and rzencrtl welfare?
To ask these questions is to answer them_
The people of Prince Eiward Island are
not yet prepared to abolish the day of
re-it rinri adopt. the European or the Am-
erican Sabbath. This regular Sunday
sailing is an offence against the public
conscience of Prince Edward Island and
we think the rebuke of the Alliance
veiyjustly reflects the prevailing senti-
ment among Island people.
We realise r|uit.e fully that It will lie

day of rest which are almost, if not quite
as objectionable as the sailing of an
excursion steamer on Sunday. 'lhose

Liugan bench, this afternoon Miss Ella
Mills,aged 35, was drowned. She had

custom for the past few days and getting
beyond her depth was drowned before
