From St. Andrews Mr. Croaedale came to Moncton and was engaged on the European and North Amer.ca.n railway between St. John and Point du Chene until its completion. He then went to P. E. Island and was engineer of dredging at Charlottetown, Crapaud and Summerside, and was also deputy surveyor there for some time, Atterward he was in charge of dredg.. ing at LittlefGlace Bay and Cow Bay- C. B. He ran the iirst railway line from Sydney to Lfiuisburg. and afterwards ran a line from Londonderry (Big Vil- lege) to Truro for Messrs. Beatie. Live- say, Londonderry iron works. He was on the extension between Peiosec and Missiquash under Clark. Punch-1rd and company, with the late R. C. Boxall as chief onginer. Mr. (lroasdale was next on the Intercolonial survev and Idcation between Moncton and Newcastle, hav- ing charge of construction of sections 22 and 23. He was also afterwards on the Montreal, Ottawa and Occidental rail- way. having charge of the line between St. Theresa and Granville. Between 1870 and 188-L Mr. Croasdale was' gov- ernment engineer in Newfoundland where he is still well known.
