ALEXANDER MacEACHElIN Residents of Long Creek and surrounding communities were saddened on Feb. 25, 1956. when they learned that Alex MacEach- em had died in the early morn- ing hours. Although suffering from bronchitis. and a few months before his dglh was ordered by his doctor take a complete rest, all had hopes for a speedy recovery, but despite all medical and loving care could do, God willed otherwise and on the above mentioned date he passed away. Born at Long Creek on Feb. 00, 1908, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Frank M.acEach- crn. As a young man he went to Charlottetown as an apprentice in blacksmilhing and having learned his trade he purchased some land from his father and set up a blacksmith shop. A familiar fig- ure in the forge he will be great- ly missed by those who came to him with various kinds of work. also by the many who visited his hospitable home where they al- ways received such a warln friendly welcome. But the keen- est loss will be felt. by his widow. the former Miss Annie MacPhss of Long Creek. who found it necessary to break up the home which for eighteen years knew such happiness and in which Alex had such a devout pride. Besides his widow the following sisters and brothers are left to mourn: Flora (Mrs. Ivan Macin- nls) of Toronto: Evelyn (Mrs. Gordon Taylor) Nine Mile Creek; William in Plctou, N, S., and Frank, Wesley and Albert at Long Creek. The funeral service. which was largely attended. was conducted by Rev. Mr. Weir assisted by Rev. Mr. Nicholson. A solo: ”Now The Labourer'a Work Is Donc" was rendered by Mr. W R. Shaw. The following hymns were sung: "Abide With Me". "Safe In The Arms oi Jesus" and "We Shall Meet In The Iweet Bye And Bye”. The following neighbours acted as pallbearers: Messrs. Bruce Ma('Lr.-an.
