Wood Cad ‘lbmlsk PAGE Fl Vi t The Eastern Trust Company FORTY-FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT For the Year 1937 Maintaining its record of progress and achievement, the financial statement of The Eastern Trust Company for 1937, presented to the annual general meeting of the shareholders on February 9th, indi- cates continued improvement in the Company's affairs. During 1937 the assets under the Company's administration increased by $1,534.663.44, the total being $58,9l0,279.88 at the end of the year. Guaran- teed Investment Funds increased by $379,850.76, amounting to $7,061,989.44 on December 31st. Augmented by a further addition of $25,000.00, the Reserve Fund now stands at $300,000.00, the highest point in the Company‘s history. This addition was made after $28,000.00 llad been laid aside against tax levies, $21,707.96 written off assets, the profit and loss balance of $24,275.98 curried forward, the regular dividends paid, and provision made for all known losses during the your. The steady progress being made in the advancement of the Company/s position has for many years been uninterrupted, the upward trend being maintained even during tl-lc (lilficuli period recently passed and continuing now in an ever greater degree. Assets are steadily increasing, with valua- tions being conservatively made, and tsigible evidence of public confidence is seen in the progressively larger number of accounts being entrusted to the Company's care. which the various Taxing Authorities have imposed.
