The symbol should represent both the Society and Prince Edward Island if possible. 2. Not necessarily the most artistic entry will win. The best idea will be accepted. 3. The contest is open to anyone on Prince Edward Island. 4. The Judges decision will be final. 5. The closingchte for entries is June 30, 1975. Prizes: FIRST - "A Field Guide to the Birds" by R. T. Peterson SECOND - "Birds, Bush and Barnacles" THIRD — "Native Trees and Shrubs of Prince Edward Island" FOURTH - "Familiar Wildlife of P.E.I." Entries should be sent to Margaret Mallett, 53 Fitzroy Street, Charlottetown. Natural Areas Advisory Committee On early March, a Natural Areas Advisory Committee was appointed for Prince Edward Island by the Hon. Gilbert R. Clements, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Conservation. An effort was made to involve local agencies who have a primary concern in the future of nature reserves in this province. Kathy Martin, representing the Natural History Society, chairs the committee. The other members are: Rick Swain, Parks Canada; Daryl Guignion, University of Prince Edward Island; Wayne MacKinnon, the Heritage Foundation; and Russell Irvine, Department of Tourism, Parks and Conservation. Diane Griffin serves as recording secretary for the group.
