No one, he said is an expert fisherman: conditions change. and sometimes one Just does not seem able to get a good catch. Mr. Rodman is trying to find out if there are any sea. bass around the shores of Prince Ed- ward Island and so far has not found any. although. conditions around the mouths of the rivers and bays seam to him to provide a natural habitat for sea bass. In Massachusetts twenty years ago not much was known of striped or sea bass, both names are used to describe this partl- cular fish. Since the discovery of these game fish it is estimated that over ten million dollars per year are spent by fishermen in that state alone. This Includes their equipment, travelling, lic- ense fecs, room and board, and a multitude of other items purchas- ed by fishermen. There are some of these striped bass along the shores of Nova Scotls and New Brunswick. Street Sweeper To Be Purchased A new mechanical strut sweep- er will bs purchased by the City following a special meeting of the City Council held yesterday afternoon at City Hall. All of the Councillors were present at the meeting with Councillors Elmer MacDonald. G. R. Keefe and Arthur Gormley opposing the pur- chase. Councillor Frank Storey. chair- man of the Streets Committee. proposed the purchase and stated that the machine would save the city approximately 513.000 on the basis of the figures available for last year. He said that the cost last year had been 522,000 of which 513,800 had been spent on manual labor. So far this year the cost to the city of street sweeping has been 510.000 and he expected that. this would rise to the P. E. Island Marketing Board, at a well attended meeting held yesterday afternoon in the Agri- cultural Room of the Vocational School. Mr. J. O. C. Campbell. chairman of the Board, presided. The meeting. which had been adjourned some time ago pend- ing the result of the P. E. Island Potato Marketing Board annual meeting and a statement of policy from that organization. was at- tended by their prcsident. Mr. Donald MacDonald, an invitation. At the request of the chalrmaii Mr. MacDonald outlined the iicencing regulations and answer- ed various questions dealing with the detailed operation of the scheme.
