Loose Smut of Outs, und Covered Smut of Barley. 1 Materials needed:- Same ns for dipping in formalin, eit- cept that n sack is not required. in nddition: Shovels for mixing the 1-train. An ordinary garden sprinkling can. Mix one pint of formalin with 40 gallons of writer. Place thc grain to ho treated in a heap on it clean can- vnn or floor. Sprinkle the formalin solution over the grain, then shovel tho grniu over ilito another pile so as to mix it thoroughly, then sprinkle and shovel again. ltepcat this until every grain is nioistcned hy thc solution; then cover the pile with seeking and leave for 3 or 4 hours. A't the end of this time spread the grain out thinly to dry; shovelling it over three or four times will hasten the drying. Forty gallons ot' the formalin solution is suf- iicent to sprinkle between thirty and _i'9_i_‘_t_y bushels of grain.
