COUNCIL MEETING The fifth meeting of the UPEI- SU Council for 1985-86 is Sunday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m., in Kelley Building 210.‘ All students are invited to attend. Also, one position is open on the Hiring and Selection Board for the duration of the year. The position must be filled by a non- councillor. Interest students are I invited to approach councillors, inform‘the SU office, or show up at Council on the meeting of October 20. - ' SENIOR CLASS NEWS The Senior Class executive realizes that everyone cannot attend class meetings regularly, therefore, we hope to issue a series of reports in the “Gem” to keep you unwell-informed. First of all, congratulations to our first two 50-50 winners, Sandra Courtney and Shaun Herron. Sandra picked us 338 on September 27, and_Shaun won $48 at last Friday’s movie pub. Thanks, to everyone who support- ed these draws. We invite you to continue your support. We plan to continue with fund-raisers such as these. Grad photos will be taken from November 12-15. For those of you who failed to get an appointment; fear not! More dates will be scheduled. The Senior Class Pub is slated for October 24. It promises to be a great time, so plan to be there. President, Gordon Cobb is presently lobbying faculty members for cancellation of the 11:30 a.m., class on this day, and a formal request is coming to Senate on October 18. The Honorary Degree Committee is seeking names of candidates for honorary degrees to be conferred at Convocation in May 1986. In accordance with Senate procedures, all submissions are to be made: a) with supporting documentation, such as an updated curriculum vitae, at least of a preliminary nature; and - b) with a care for the fact that the nominee may be asked to address Convocation.
