Knight. -SENT T0 SUPREME COURT.- Constable Smith of Tlgnish, yester- day, brought to Summerside and lodged in jail to await trial at the next term of the Supreme Court, Thomas DesRocbe, of Woodvale, Lot 2, who has confessed to stealing the horse and buggy which so myster- iously disappeared from the tea grounds at Alberton on July 20th. last and which was found some weeks later in a swamp, the horse dead. In the confession, which was secured from the prisoner by the "Yankee de- tective," Deftoche states that while drunk he took the horse from the ten grounds und remembers leaving him by the side of the road about 9 o'cl0ck that night, eight or nine miles distant. He claims to remember nothing more about the matter, and in the confession begs for mercy. when taken before Mr. Joseph Rich- iirds, J.
