It is due to Bon Mr Cummiskey to say that during his term of oihce he has kept the. expenditure within the amount voted for his department, and also has avoided the necessity icr any serious charge of malad- mlnistratlon. In beth those respecta few Ministers of Public Works have been equally fortunate, and none that we know cl more so. The report is in the usual form ot peat years. It might be improved by adding a recapitulation on one page ol the amounts expended under the several principal heads.-From a cursory reading it would appear that $35,Vl0.5’l was ex- pended on public buildings, as follows: Government House .... . . $ 239.05 Provincial Bulilding. ._ . . . . . . . _ . 1,748.97 Prince of Wales College.......... 2,142.01 Hospital for Insane.............. 27,310.72 Court House, Charlottetowm... l,370.& “ “ Georgetovl n....... 381.04 CountyCourts.................... %.3'7 Qoeen's County Jail . . . . . . . . . . . . . _ 1,312.45 Prince “ " and Court House . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 836.3 King's County Jail 147.72 Ferries, floats and ferry steamere coat $18,311.38, of which 82,213.43 was expendrd on the Eifio, $1100.90 on the Southport and $8,892 99 on the Hillsboro. Packets were subsidised to the extent of $3,285 and $6,524.61 was spent on wharves. With the new bridge in operation across the harbor much of the expense on ferry steamers will be next year relieved- Roads in Queens County absorbed $0,- 623.22; in Prince County, $7,091.72 and in Kings County $631240. Over $3,&l0 of the total was spent on the Falcnnwood Asylum annex. The report lncluics a list of the Public Works contracts entered into during the year amounting to $36,123.8l. The am~ ount paid on contracts during the year was $32,599.30 and the balance due on the contracts of 1903 is set down as $3,524 54 __________i__ AN EXHIBITION GRANT.
