Ben when you've gairisd sent home. only to return a few weeks or months later. It is gratifying to learn that a new treatment of varicose ulcers is reported in "Michigan state Medi- cal Society Journal" by Drs. l. Green and A: A. Klein. who state that in their opinion allergy lilays .'an important part in the 4 ' ,. scent of varicose ulcer. some of 'tbese substances are foods. feath- ers. pollen. furs. They describe the ;case of a patient who had a large varicose ulcer with severe skin ir- ritation (caused by drugs) sur- rounding the ulcer. The ulcer had been present for two months and had been treated with many types of local treatment. She was given Py-rlbenzamine in doses of 50 mg. four times daily and advised to discontinue all local treatment. Pain and skin irritation disap- peared rapidly and at the end at five weeks the ulcer was , ete- ly oured. This same treatment was used in 9 other cases and cure was obtained in 7 patients while 2 are still under treatment. Pyrllbenz- amine was given in 200 to 500 mg. daily. While this number (11) is not large, still it is a dra.rnatic result lln cases of varicose ulcer. Drs. Green and Klein feel that the method of treatment is so simple that it should at least be given a. trial before or with other treat- mcnt. . which meam sensitivity to various foods and other substances. send 1:: cents and s c-cent stamp. to cover cost of handling and mailing. to The Bell Syndicate.
