Some Montague-Georgetown Damage A new car, owned by Mr. H. M. Smith of Montague was reported seriously damaged during the hurricane early Sunday morning when the large tree pictured above crashed partially across it. The residence of Mr. James Llewellyn, Georgetown, pictured above, lost part of its roof during the height of the storm. Debris flew across the street and broke off a telephone pole. Parent, superintendent of the Experimental Farm, stated over 50 per cent of their crop was down with more of the riper ones than others. Other fruits suffered similarly. At least a dozen trees were up- rooted at the Experimental Farm and some of them were still block- ing the main entrance to the Farm late yesterday afternoon. Be- sides this the roof was ripped off the trench silo and a large quan- tity of glass broken in the green- house. Considersble damage also result- ed at the local Golf Club where the front of the verandah was torn off and the tops of two chimneys blown down. The trailer was carrying 27,000 lbs. of irlsh moss, loaded by Ray Stewart of Murray Harbour. and destined for Bedford, Mass. After leaving Montague only last week, the truck broke down, necessitating leaving the trailer parked. However the right front was parked on in soft shoulder, and after some time. the weight of the load forced the wheel farther into the shoulder, until it broke away, toppling the trailer into the ditch. Saturday the load was removed and transferred to another truck for transit. Poufconcrete For Montague Bridge Approach 'The first concrete slabs were . poured on the north approich of the Montague Bridge during the past week. The preliminary work, which has taken several weeks, was ,, completed earlier in the week, and the work of running the concrete approach was immediately begun. It is expected that another two days will complete the concrete work at this end, and work will then start at the south end on which all preliminary work, except that of construction forms, has been completed.
