Figures are to be made pub- lic shortly. Readings taken in the quarter show a decrease In the levels of short - lived radioactive prod- ucts which decay in relatively brief periods. At the same time there has been a rise in the relative concentrations of long- llved products such as stron- m-90. An official of the health de- partment sald Wednesday the hi ‘her levels of strontium-90 ‘have shown up In tests on milk vpowder and rain. A further rise ,in strontium-90 levels is ex- ipected in the second quarter of the year but officials cannot say whether these will be above or below the levels reached after the 1958 explosions. Increases in the levels d strontium - 90 the three months represented only a small part of the total radia- tion to which man always has been exposed. They did not con- stitute a danger in health and were well below the maximum! set by the Intemationsl com- mission on radiological protec- tion. ‘J.
