The film willbe used by the department for the purposeiof publicity. \ y yIt will be-‘remembered that artists of this de- partment accompanied the United States editors on’ their tour through this province in June last and the films taken, chiefly of the fox industry, have since been shown in diifercntthoatres both in Canada and the United States. . The Guardian has frequently suggested the de- sirability 0f having this province participate in this publicity service which, we are assured, is available if we go after it. Our province has this summer re- ceived more favourable advertising from visitors than ever before, as there are more than theiusual number of visitors here. If, added to this favourable advertising, we had a series of pho graphs o‘! some of our most popular summer resor s-—in action, of course-and panoramic views of some of our most beautifullalldscapes, it would mean most valuable publicity. I THE ifioxniin T0 TIIE unseen. The Summcrside Pioneer devotes several col- umns of valuable newsprint, now worth over $110 a ton. to a defence-of Mr. Saunders and an explanation of that gentleman’s now famous challenge, a de- fence and explanation that would be wasteful ex- travagance if paper were worth only the proverbial thirty cents. - To the Guardians question why Mr. Saunders, as a member of the Public Accounts Committee, to- gether with his Liberal confreres, prepared the Pub- lie Accounts report‘ without the knowledge or con- sent of theConservative members of the committee, and what was Mr. Saunders’ opinion as a constitut- ional lawyer on the suppression of the Minority Re- port of said committee, the Pioneer, presumably on the authority of ‘Mr. Saunders, says :- “It (the Guardian) refers to the statement of the Public Accounts Committee and persisits in as- sociating Mr. Saunders with the alleged suppres- sion of the Tory Minority report. It was adequately shown that neither Mr. Saunders or Mr. McArthur knew anything about a minority report having been premeditated or prepared until they read of the dis- cussion in the Guardian. The Guardian, as a matter of fact knew more about it than they did and what is more, if they so wished could publish it. Surely this is the end of that lnare’s nest.” The Pioneer carefully evades the question re- garding the preparation of the report without the knowledge or consent of the Conservative members of thecommittee and we presume thiatMr. Saun- ders is not anxious to discuss it as both his name and that of his colleague Mr. McArthur ap pear on the document. On the matter of the suppression of the minority report Mr. Saun- ders pleads that he was absent! He however, declines to give his opinion as a constitutional lawyer on what all fair minded people in the province regard as an outrage perpetrated witha view to deceiving thel 4 people. . The Pioneer makes the statement that we de- cline to publish Mr. Saundersspeech. We did not. We did promise, however, to publish. any statement that Mr. Saunders cared to make over his own signature with- reference to certain question's which we pro- pounded and that offer is still open. We regret to see the Pioneer drop into thebill- ingsgate style of argument, contracted probably from the Patriot, but we shall waste no time on that. .\ “TIY THEY “AXTICIPATED.” The Patriot's idea of truth and honesty may be interpreted from the following extracts from a len- gthy editorial in its,'Fl‘iday’s issue in which it com- mended Mr. Hessian for his exploits at Sturgeon last week :— I “The people fully anticipated that there would be measures taken for increasing the revenues.” “Frequently we hear men from the country as well as from the city stating that they knew the tax- es had to be increased and that they have no objec- to the increase that has been put into opera- . The only reason why the people could f‘antici- pate” an increase in taxation from the pro-election representations of the Patriot and the Liberal can- didates would be through the knowledge that the Liberals would follow- the opposite course to what they promised. In this the “anticipations” were cer- tainly verified. "hr GIN} i “It is ‘too bad in a beautiful country like ours that weshbuld have a newspaper trying to prejudice the minds of the people against measures passed by the government,” says the Patriot. ‘ Too bad, isn’t it. . --*~ ' .\_ -. ‘w.’ ,' l v ‘ I H?“ flllfllliflll 0i fuel suPlllY .‘ _ is I growing lino one of grave national oiuflnzorliiuionni importance.
