One morning. to be exact, I think it
was oil the 4th of May, I was in a
field between Vlnntiitillgll and Brlelell,
twb little towns 11 short distance from
Ypres. About half of our section was
present and we were waiting for the
other half' to conle up from Poperwgh
and relieve us, things began to get
rather warm and our (‘aptaill told us

were putting the shells everywhere ex-
cept the field we were in. Fifteen
minutes of this suspense and then li

heads and ill spite of the fact that we
were lined up close to the hedges it

fast time getting out of a place, it was
every one hitch for themselves. Tile
